Dry Bones Shall Live Again

Pastor Jenny Tinubu

Bible Text: “v10: So I prophesied as He commanded me, and breath came into them, and they lived, and stood upon their feet, an exceedingly great army.” Ezekiel 37: 1 – 10

The Cornerstone Scripture supporting God’s ability to make dry bones live again can be found in Ezekiel 37:1-10

Whenever we trust in God for a miracle, we will face a dry season.

Dry bones represent something or a situation that may have died

Dry bones may also represent something that used to be precious to us.

For example, Sarah thought that she would never be able to bear children – a classic “dry bones” situation.

Perhaps we feel that we aren’t accomplishing what God has called to do, or that our finances are not where they should be, that our marriage is not where we want it to be etc.

Dry bones may represent a death or a dying situation in our lives

Dry bones may represent so-called impossibilities in our life. Yet God states in:

Luke 1:37 – “For with God, nothing will be impossible.”

Matthew 19:26 – “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

As always, we have a part to play to see God manifest in our lives. To see dry bones come alive we must be mindful of our utterances. If we say something is impossible, then it won’t be possible. If we say that we can’t do something, then we won’t be able to do it. This is important because God’s first choice is always to engage us, as He works out our miracles. He wants us to “prophesy” the miracle NOT the challenge. In this example, God commanded Ezekiel to PROPHESY to the dry bones.

The Bible tells us that whenever we declare a thing, then so shall it be.

Ezekiel 37:4 – “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord!”

Ezekiel 37:6 – “… then you shall know that I am the Lord.”

It is important that we KNOW who God is. We go through “dry bones” situations, challenges, valleys, etc. so that we can know that He is the Lord.

Our natural inclination is to seek earthly help e.g. physical treatment for sicknesses, instead of FIRST seeking the face of God. In everything in life, it’s best for our search for solutions to begin with God through prayer. In addition, we must commit to doing whatever God commands us to do, no matter how foolish or confusing it may seem.

Ezekiel 37:7 – “So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone.”

Whenever God is about to do something, there is a noise.

Acts chapter 2 records how on the day of Pentecost, the Spirit manifested only after there was a mighty rushing wind; which could not have been quiet.  When the WIND OF GOD blows, the supernatural occurs.

Parting of the Red Sea was accompanied with a NOISE in Exodus 14:21… Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.

Feeding Israel with Quails in Numbers 11:31-32…

Now a wind went out from the Lord, and it brought quail from the sea and left them fluttering near the camp, about a day’s journey on this side and about a day’s journey on the other side, all around the camp, and about two cubits above the surface of the ground. And the people stayed up all that day, all night, and all the next day, and gathered the quail (he who gathered least gathered ten homers); and they spread them out for themselves all around the camp.

God wants to minister to every impossibility in our lives, God wants to empower us as a peculiar people, with faith to Prophesy to make dry bones come alive again. He wants to teach us when to speak and not to speak. What to do to get the God-kind of results that would glorify God and expand His Kingdom here on Earth.
